Shannons Wheels Expo
Sunday 27th March 2011

Shannons Wheels Expo 2011

Today we gathered the troops for one of the clubs biggest local car
shows. It was the annual Shannons Wheels Expo which is held on the
lawns of old Parliament House.

We arrived at around 8.00am to set up. Once we errected all the
marquees and got settled, we started on the traditional breakfast BBQ.
Nothing like bacon and eggs at 8.30am in the morning on what looked like
it was going to be a beautiful sunny day. Breakfast out of the way and
we decided it was time to sight see. No matter how many times you come
to this show you always drool at the quality of cars on display. It
really is a great show, probably Canberra's biggest static car show.

The morning flew by and before we knew it lunch time had arrived so it
was time to crank the BBQ up again for lunch. We had a large number of
troops to feed today as the attendance was again excellent. As usual
the steak and snags went down a treat.
Thanks again to our supplier, Master Cut Meats in Hume.

In all we had 13 Torana's on show and two club members brought their HSV
Commodores along. The event as usual was fantastic and it was great to
see such beautiful weather which made for a very enjoyable day. At a
guess there would have been around 5 to 6 hundred cars on display of all
makes and types.

Thanks to all those that helped with the setting up and cooking as well
as the cleaning and packing up. Thanks also to Steve B for getting to
the event early to claim a good display position.

I am already looking forward to our next club run in April. It should
be a ripper.....

Chow for now,
Gerry - CTC Run Coordinator.
