TORANA UC SL/T
A9X BEATER
The UC SL/T was never produced as an official GM-H model, but was a fully sanctioned modification by
Normalair-Garrett Manufacturing (NGM) in Melbourne and had full warranty and full emission gear.
This in a series 2 UC SL/T (this car was the actual prototype for the VB Commodore Turbo setup and features a Wastegate.)
Up to 33 were made in sedan and hatchback.
To get the SL/T, you needed to order a UC with 3.31t engine, M20 Gearbox, GU4 (3.08:1) or GU7 (2.78:1) differential, four wheel disc brakes and a heavy duty radiator.
The cars went straight from GM-H to NGM Assembly line. NGM handled the driveline warranty and GM-H handled the rest.
The NGM 'Strata 2a' kit consisted of an AirResearch T04B Turbo with a wastegate set to 12 - 13psi
(achieved at 210Orpm under full load) drawing through a 17/8" HIF7 series SU Carburettor. A larger fuel line and fuel pump were fitted.
A 2.5 inch exhaust and a drop in compression ratio to 7.0:1 and 7.5:1, achieved by a spacer between the head and the block.
The internals of the engine were untouched.
