South Coast Nationals Run Report
We met up at Supercheap after a mad panic to get Johns car ready.
It took us a few hours to get down to the bay with Paul and his red
rocket ship leading the way. We stopped off for dinner at Dominos
in the Bay and then headed off again on our way to Tuross Lakes Caravan
Park. When we got to the caravan park we had a couple of drinks and
settled in for the night. The next morning we were up at the crack
of dawn to find a car wash, luckily we found one in Moruya. After
making our cars look spick and span we made our way to the Street
Parade lineup. The Street Parade went through the main street of
Moruya with hundreds of onlookers cheering the cars on. Once at the
event we set up camp and put up the banner and the bbq ready for
lunch. There were plenty of cars to look at from brand new to totally
wild! Aka Hums sickma. The Go to-whoa and slalom were the first events
to be up and our new sponsor Brain from BGs was one the flag marshals
and Lawrie took a few goes at the Go to-whoa. The burnouts were up
next with what seemed an endless stream of cars wanting to rip it
up the track. Brett’s car attracted alot of attention from
the crowds and the judges on the day and looked a million bucks.
After the event we went back to the caravan park to freshen up before
the night out at the Golf Club in Moruya. Once there everyone got
seated for the trophy presentation in which Brett did very well with
trophies for Top Standard Paint and Top 10. Well done Brett!! Lee
donated a trophy on behalf of the club which was Best Factory Muscle
Car, also the club donated a Peter Brock bottle of wine to the charity
auction which made $110 for the Telstra Child Flight and Para Olympic
kids charities. Lawrie’s work donated the fireworks for the
event, which looked and sounded awesome. Thanks Lawrie!! The next
Day we headed out to the show a little later than the previous morning
where we setup in an even better spot than the day before and got
the bbq fired up for another great lunch, thanks Dean! The main attraction
for the afternoon was the burnouts, which saw some amazing attempts
at destroying some tires and in some cases, engines. Also if you
see the photos you’ll see the Hummer that had over 30 screens
and countless speakers and amps! Awesome! After the show most of
the club members headed home but a few of us decided to stay for
an extra night with a great meal and alot of laughs to wind down
a great weekend. And a huge thank you goes out to all the club members
who made the big effort to attend and also to Lee and Debbie for
organising another great event. |
