South Coast Nationals - Saturday

Three of us decided to head down to Moruya for the South Coast Nationals on Saturday morning to meet up with the rest of the club members who had headed down the day before.

We left Canberra at 7.00am. The day looked very gloomy but supposedly it was going to be a nice day down at the coast. The drive down was not as smooth at it should have been.

Just outside of Nelligen we hit a bump in the road in the Monaro and blew a tyre. Luckily enough we limped to a roadside lay-by and managed to jack the car up and fit the space saver....this meant the remainder of the trip was at 80kph.

Luckily enough we had a second car following so they drove on ahead and dropped the wheel off at the local Tyre Power shop.

We arrived there around 9.15am and did the business and continued on to Moruya. We got there around 9.45am.  Once there, the Club President (Lawrie) sorted out all the entrant stuff and we drove in to display.

There looked to be a reasonable amount of cars already set up. The club had an excellent display set up including one of the club members Soda blast business display. Not long after arriving the BBQ breakfast was cooked. Mmmm, bacon and egg rolls, Yum!

All up we had around a dozen cars on display. A great turn out. This included a couple of our interstate members. We had a good look around at the cars, some really interesting ones to be seen.

The selected burnout comp started up fairly early and the smell of burning rubber was upon us. There were some real mean machines smoking the bags, nothing like it! As usual the wind played havoc and things became very dusty, including the lunch time sausages.

In all the day was quite enjoyable. We decided to head home at 3.00pm after having a few relaxing beers and a good feed.
