Urriarra Crossing
Cruise and Swim

12th February 2006

We met as planned at Old Parliament House at 1:30pm for a 2:00pm departure. While the skies were partly cloudy, the temperatures seemed to be OK. Lee in a nice saffron yellow 253 LX Torana joined us, nice to see you Lee.

All loaded, we made our way to Uriarra crossing, with a quick splash for fuel and drinks at the Curtin Shell service station, somehow loosing Marie in the process, however she soon caught us up.

Looked fabulous, and upon first impressions looked like the local moped club was also out. A small 15-20cm snake swam across the river to meet us, brown with a black head and bright yellow markings, don’t know what it was. It was happy in the bushes, so we jumped in and cooled down. I don’t think the kids emerged until we left.

For the older folk and non-swimmers, we caught up on all things Torana on the banks, and enjoyed quite entertaining discussion, with the odd cold ale. Lee had to head off early for a 4:00pm start at work.

Time to head off via Coppins Crossing, were some headed off to Belconnen, Queanbeyan and the Tuggeranong Parkway.

A simple enjoyable day.
