Run Report for Wheels Expo 2007

Well folks, a warm morning greeted us as we left the driveway heading for Trevor’s place. Car on the trailer, windows down and the radio turned up we discussed what we might expect for the day.

On our arrival at Trevor’s place at about 7.55am, I received a call from Al. remember him? He’s the bloke who had an orange LX. Well folks he’s back. He was wondering where everyone was. I explained that we were meeting at 8 am at KFC and that given a bit of patience someone would probably be there shortly. He couldn't wait he was jumping out of his skin. Sure enough when we arrived there were plenty of members waiting to go.

We left KFC at about 8.25am with those gleaming Toranas in their high octane conga line and headed down Wentworth Avenue toward the Department of Finance building (old GMC 400 pits) where we met up with the ACT/QBN club for the short trip into the display. It was really good to see so many Torries rolling together down the street.

Gerry and Craig had gone directly to the show and were waiting for us at the front of the display. We lined the cars up, 23 in total and erected the club banners.

I must say the display looked great with all those shiny cars lined up at the front of the show.

All of the mandatory requirements out of the way Trevor and I set up the BBQ and dished out breaky which was enjoyed by the troops. Afterward Myself and Rowan decided to take a walk amongst the fine fettle that was on display. And fine fettle it was. You name it, it was there. Holdens of every description, Fords, Chevys, and yes the JJJJagwa or 2 or should I say Jaguar!

The stroll through the display over, our attention was turned to lunch and the feeding of the troops. The snags where great as usual. Thanks to our sponsor, Calwell Meats for supplying them.

It was good to see Al’s car back on the road. He seems a happy chappy.

Also it was good to see the 2 Canberra based Torry clubs getting together and enjoying the day. Thanks to Peter Wright and all the other members of the ACT/QBN club for their attendance also.

Well not much more I can say except a big thanks to those CTC members who supported the run by attending and those that assisted with the cooking.

Cheers
Paul.
