CTC 2013 Christmas Party

All I can say is that Sunday’s Christmas party turnout indicated the great place the club is in at present. What a great day!

Although official kick off was to be 11.00am, several members had turned up early to help get things set up. A big thanks to those that made the effort.

The morning was looking a bit dubious weather wise and the humidity was indicating that it was going to be a warm and possibly wet day.

That aside, by about 12.00pm the crowd had grown to be quite large, I would guess there was around the 50 member mark in attendance. Fantastic effort to all!

As usual the spread of food put on was top shelf. There was everything from sausages, steak, lamb chops, prawns and a great choice of side serves. In addition, a large variety of lollies and sweets for the kids (and sweet toothed adults).

As always, there was friendly banter amongst members, the traditional world series cricket match, and of course, the fabulous raffle where some members had their own Christmas cheer collecting more than one neat prize. As always, the club really appreciates those who contribute to the raffle prizes. Without these participants it wouldn’t be possible to hold such a great event. So a big thanks to all our sponsors and any others who contributed.

Prior to the raffle we had the presentation of trophies to members. This is an annual appreciation award for those who go that extra yard to help out or simply attend run calendar and social events. The 1st prize for club points went to the boss himself, Mr Lawrie Reid. Good to see he still has the passion in his veins after so many years. You know we all love ya big fella :-) Runner up went to Mr Ballard (AKA Santa behind his back), and third place to Mr Tompkins. Well done lads.

The club encouragement and appreciation awards went to Lee Sayer and Phil and Jodie Boyd respectively. Well done folks, good to see newer members getting so involved and helping out when necessary.

The award for “club member of the year” went to Mr Ballard. Nice work mate and well deserved. Club sponsor award went to Shannons Insurance for their continued support of the club. The spit the dummy award (aka the Wadey award) was won by Kathleen, and the clumsy award by Stephen Barry.

Pauly T also took out an appreciation award from the committee for being heavily involved in keeping the club afloat and steering in the right direction. Thanks mate, we all do appreciate your efforts. You may be small in size, but you are big in stature :-)

Anyway, all things aside, it was a great day for all. The kids ran amuck, went fishing, kicked the footy and also participated in the world series cricket match. The adults kicked back, chatted away, and generally carried on in a festive like fashion. So in all it was a great day had by all. And glad to see Rod made it home after his little LJ had a tantrum and spat the hydraulic hose....

A big thanks goes out to all our members, for without you the club doesn’t exist, and also a big thanks to all our sponsors. We are really in a good place at the moment and personally being a part of the club for 10 years now, I have seen the transition from a small intimate like club to a large happy family. All the best for the festive period folks, stay safe and have a safe and healthy 2014.

Cheers, Gez
