Yass Scout Biannual Fair
31st March 2007

We kicked off from the carpark in Dickson at 7:00, well, 7:15 actually. Attendance wasn’t looking good at 7:00am, refer picture, but Trevor and Alan showed up shortly after at around 7:05am. Craig had rung the night before advising of other commitments.

We motored onto Yass. Heard on the radio that there was a car show as well as the Scout Fair in Yass. At this stage I was thinking surely it is the same event. We stopped off for Breakfast at the Café in Yass where we saw a poster for the Yass District Historic Car Club’s show at the park across the road.

We trundled into the Scout’s fair, set up the cars, and went for bit of a look. There were a myriad of stalls, with all types of gear, animal displays, and probably best of all “The Snakeman”. We also saw the arrival of Sir William Deane, CEO for the Australian Scout movement. He arrived in a couple of cars borrowed from the neighbouring car show.

We hung around till about 1:00pm, then headed up the road to the car show. At the show we met up with none other than Ian Kell, with both his A9X 4 dr, and the ex-Brabham racing A9X. It was great to catch up with him, as it was Lawrie’s mum and dad, Win and Gordon. In addition to the display was also a display of hand-made dolls and model trains from another century, no plastic here.

Pat and Alan headed back to Canberra about 3:30pm, while Trevor stayed on to catch up with family and friends.

Love the Country Runs.
