Shannons Wheels 2017

Shannons Wheels 2017

We had decided to meet at the Shannons Wheels event at 8.30am. For this event, Phil had volunteered to bring the club trailer. So he made the effort to pick up the trailer and be there early and setup a great spot for all the CTC members.
Some of us organised to meet me at Speeds in Mitchell at 8am after I did the shopping for breakfast and lunch. The responsibility of getting the right food can be challenging. From Speeds we cruised down the GDE into the event. Along the way meeting up with a Pantera and Paul’s new C63s Merc. Both cool cars I must say.
On arrival at Wheels, Phil was already getting the things organised with the members. Setting up the club trailer, display of vehicles, flags, banner, marque and BBQ and so on. Many hands make light work. For some of us it was the first time being involved in the setup. It was great to see.
Craig B and Craig W got the BBQ going and in no time BLT’s and egg bacons rolled out to members. Great work guy’s!
Our display had 11 club member cars and 2 ring ins. It was great to see the mix of Torries, 3 pointy and 8 square ones. The 2 ring ins were a UC and LC. Good to see the pointy ones out although T-Rex was missed. It was also good to see other members supporting the club even though their cars weren’t there. We setup a fantastic display, but missed out on an award for best display. Maybe I’m biased – I think it might have something to with a tribute to the Ford brand cars for the event – their 100th Anniversary.
There were many different brands on display and wide variety of vehicles – something for everyone. Most members spent time observing the offerings throughout the morning followed up with a chat and a stir.
At lunch the crew fired up the BBQ again. The menu really hit the spot (self-gratification). We sat around after lunch chewing the fat and then it was time to pack up. The event seemed to finish earlier than previous years. Thanks to all members who helped pack up. A special thanks going to Phil and Craig B for cleaning up the trailer once at the storage location.
It was a great day and good see so many members out with their cars.
Be safe
